David McKinley

David B. McKinley ( born March 28, 1947 in Wheeling, West Virginia) is an American politician. Since 2011 he represents the state of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

David McKinley studied until 1969 at Purdue University in Indiana, where he was trained as a civil engineer. In this profession, he worked for twelve years before he his own construction company McKinley and Associates founded in Wheeling. Many of his works came from government agencies. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1980 and 1995 he sat in the House of Representatives from West Virginia. From 1990 to 1994 he was also chairman of the Republicans in his home state. In 1996, he unsuccessfully sought the nomination of his party for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

In the congressional elections of 2010, McKinley was the first constituency of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of not more candidates Democrat Alan Mollohan on January 3, 2011. In the election he narrowly won against State Senator Mike Oliverio. In Congress, McKinley is a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in two sub-committees. He also belongs to the Tea Party movement related Tea Party Caucus. McKinley has also acted with the International Conservation Caucus, in the Marcellus Shale Caucus, which he founded, and in the Congressional Arts Caucus. He is married and has four grown children and six grandchildren.

In the congressional elections in 2012 McKinley sat down with 62:38 percent of the vote against Democrat by Sue Thorn.
