David Miliband

David Wright Miliband ( born July 15, 1965 in London) is a British politician ( Labour Party ) and was from 2007 to 2010 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom.

Miliband represents the northern English constituency in South Shields in the House.

Life

Miliband was born the son of a political scientist Ralph Miliband and Marion couple Kozak. He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University and graduated from there as a bachelor. The degree of Master he attained then when Kennedy Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 1989-1994 was Miliband as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research ( IPPR ) and 1992 to 1994 worked as secretary of the Commission for Social Justice.

Miliband is married to violinist Louise Shackelton and has two adopted sons.

Miliband was between February 2011 and March 31, 2013 the board of the football club Sunderland AFC and was also a non-executive director of the association. As a reason for his resignation, he stated the obligation of Paolo Di Canio as head coach, with whom he could not work because of his political views.

Policy

Miliband initially worked for Tony Blair as head of the planning department in the office of the opposition leader and later as head of the Policy Planning Staff of the Prime Minister. In June 2001, he was elected as a deputy in the lower house in the constituency of South Shields. He was then appointed Minister of State for Schools and on 15 December 2004 Cabinet Office minister in 2002. In May 2005, the appeal was in the cabinet to the newly created post of Minister for Communities and Local Government. In 2006 he was Minister for the Environment and as such was responsible for environmental protection, food, agriculture, horticulture, fishing and Rural Affairs. He represented the United Kingdom in this regard in the agriculture and fisheries and environment ministers of the European Union. Miliband was seen as Blair's preferred successor as Prime Minister, but this declined, making it possible to compete Gordon Brown was Blair's successor.

In June 2007 he was appointed the new Prime Minister Gordon Brown for decades youngest Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom. Miliband was at the time of his appointment as an opponent of the Iraq war.

His brother Ed Miliband won the Labour Party in 2005 for a seat in the House of Commons in June 2007, and was also a member of the British government.

Before the Congress of the Labour Party 2008 Miliband was as a possible successor to the ailing Brown in polls in conversation. He declined but from act directly against Brown. In addition, he was brought to the newly created post of EU foreign minister this week.

On 25 September 2010 he defeated his four years younger brother Ed in the election of the Chairman of the Labour Party almost 49 percent compared to 51 percent of the vote.

On 29 September 2010 Miliband announced that he would retire from the front row of the policy. In March 2013 it was announced that he would withdraw completely from politics and that he would resign his seat in Parliament. He intends to work as chairman of the charity International Rescue Committee in New York.
