David Morse (actor)

David Bowditch Morse ( born October 11, 1953 in Hamilton, Massachusetts) is an American actor.

Life

Morse began his career in the theater. Between 1971 and 1977 he appeared in over thirty stage productions in the late seventies at the renowned Circle Repertory Theatre in New York City. With a role in Richard Donner's Max's Bar in 1980 began his movie career, but only in the late 1990s with involvement in films like 12 Monkeys (1995), The Rock (1996 ), Contact ( 1997), The Negotiator (1998 ) and last but not least The Green Mile (1999) was her breakthrough.

2002 Morse was awarded for his role in the Taiwanese film Double Vision with the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor. It was the first time that an English actor was nominated for this movie price. His starring role in Martin Donovan's Collaborator tragicomedy earned him a 2011 Best Actor Award at the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary.

Morse is married to fellow actress Susan Wheeler Duff since 1982 and has two sons and a daughter.
