David Murray (racing driver)

David Murray ( born December 28, 1909 in Edinburgh, † April 5, 1973 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) was a British racing driver, who was active in Formula 1 from 1950 to 1952.

His debut Murray on May 13, 1950 at the Grand Prix of Great Britain at Silverstone. He started from position 18, but fell during the race off after an engine failure. At the French Grand Prix in Reims, he qualified for the 20th starting position, but the race David graduated from Hampshire. On 3 September the same year Murray took part in the Monza in the Italian Grand Prix, but finished the race not because of a gearbox failure.

The season began in 1951 for Murray on July 14, 1951 in Silverstone, here he left again, this time because of a broken valve spring. In training for the Grand Prix of Germany, he had an accident and could not participate in the race.

In the 1952 season Murray drove in a Cooper - Bristol T20 at the Grand Prix of Great Britain. Also this race, he was unable to finish due to a spark plug defect. Thus, he started four times at a Grand Prix, but was able to finish a race.

Murray died in 1973 in a car accident on Gran Canaria.
