David Needham

David William Needham ( born May 21, 1949 in Leicester, England ) is a former English footballer, who was known at Notts County and Nottingham Forest, especially in his years. With Forest he won thereby the English Championship in 1978 and the European Cup of Champions 1978/79 and 1980.

Playing career

Notts County

David Needham started his playing career in 1966 at Notts County. The club played at this time in the fourth English league and could not in the following four years qualify for a higher league. Only in the 1970/71 season the team with David Needham succeeded in rising into the Third Division. Two years later, the jump in the second English league. In this division, he spent four years with the club from Nottingham, before he moved to Queens Park Rangers in the First Division in 1977. He spent the best season at Notts County in the 1975/76 season with fifth place and narrowly missed Erstligaaufstieg.

Nottingham Forest

David Needham spent the first round at the club from Hammersmith and Fulham and completed 18 Erstligaeinsätze.
