David Odonkor 2006
David Odonkor (born 21 February 1984 in frets ) is a former German football player and current coach.
Life
Odonkor was born the son of a Ghanaian father and a German in the Westphalian town frets, where he was active as a youth soccer player. First, he played four years in the youth gaming community Holsen Broach and undertook subsequent three years to Bünder SV. In 1998 he moved to the youth of Borussia Dortmund, where he was initially employed in the B- Juniors, later with the A- juniors and amateur team of Dortmund. At Deutsche Post AG Odonkor had parallel started training as a postman, but he resigned in favor of his career as a footballer in 2002.
Career
Career as a player
In 2002 he was part of the squad of Profielf Borussia Dortmund and was in his first Bundesliga season 2001/ 02 German masters. He was indeed a substitute only twice, but made with an assist and a caused penalty on him for attention. In the following years he became the starting players, where he distinguished himself especially in the season 2005/ 06. Due to his speed mostly used as a right winger, he hit for BVB 227 edges, 21 % of which resulted in large-scale opportunities. Only Lincoln FC Schalke 04 reached a better value with 38%. The Pits, however, was not one of the strengths Odonkors: Neither in Dortmund later in Seville, he scored more than one goal per season.
Despite this weakness Odonkor was appointed surprising the German squad for the 2006 World Cup in May 2006 and denied on May 30 under Jurgen Klinsmann made his debut for the senior team when he came on in the Test match against Japan. Previously, he was already in the squad of U-17, U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 national team. In the second group match of the German team against Poland then substitute Odonkor prepared just before the end with a cross from the right, the 1-0 winning goal by Oliver Neuville before. Following the 2006 World Cup, he was like the entire team the Silver Laurel Leaf.
His last international match Odonkor graduated at the European Championships in 2008, when he came off the bench during the first round match against Croatia coach Joachim Loew in 46 minutes for Marcell Jansen.
End of August 2006 he signed with the former Spanish side Real Betis a five-year contract, Dortmund won for him a transfer fee of 6.5 million euros. In November 2006, he had to undergo a knee surgery. His league comeback was Odonkor on 28 April 2007 against Atlético Madrid. His first league goal for the Spaniards scored Odonkor on matchday 35 of the 2007/08 season against Almeria. His first goal for the German national team, he scored on 12 September 2007 in the match against Romania. In 2008 he was appointed to the squad for the 2008 European Championship. In the following season 2008/ 09 he went after only a few uses with Betis in the Primera División. In the 2010/11 season Betis Sevilla managed to rise again from the Segunda División, Odonkor remained without use and left the club at the end of the season.
After a long rehabilitation, he was out of contract at the beginning of the 2011/12 season and remained first in the training of the fifth-tier TuS Dornsberg fit. Between July 28 and August 5, he trained at the Glasgow Rangers. According to the Glasgow Rangers, although he made a good impression, due to worries about his fitness after a long injury time took the Rangers but of an obligation Odonkors distance. In September 2011, Alemannia Aachen him committed after a trial to the end of the current season. When goalless away draw against SC Paderborn 9 September 2011 Odonkor was with Substitutes in the 69th minute for Marco Stiepermann his debut in the Bundesliga 2. His first goal for Alemannia Aachen, he scored 23 October 2011 (12th Round ) in the 3-1 home win against FC Ingolstadt 04 with the hit to the final score in the 90th minute. With the Alemannia he rose from a table next to last out of the second division at the end of the season.
July 12, 2012 Odonkor moved to the Ukraine and signed a one-year contract with newly promoted into the Premjer - Liha FC Hoverla - Zakarpattya Uzhhorod. At eight games Odonkor scored in the 2-1 home win against Tavriya Simferopol in 36 minutes his first goal of the season. The club took with this game, the first points of the season and was thus able to give the Red Lantern. In January Odonkor announced that he wants to return to Germany. Reason were the living conditions in Ukraine.
In September 2013 Odonkor ended his active career because of persistent injury problems.
Coaching career
As of September 17, 2013 graduated Odonkor a coach internship under Andreas Golombek the regional division SC Verl first aim was the acquisition of the B -trainer certificate. End of October 2013 Odonkor was confirmed as assistant coach of SC Verl.

Private
Since December 30, 2006 Odonkor is married. On 14 November 2008 his wife gave birth to the first child to the world, a girl.
