David of Augsburg

David of Augsburg ( 1200, † November 19, 1272 in Augsburg) was a mystical writer and one of the earliest teachers of the Franciscan Order in Germany. He first lived in Regensburg and moved in 1243 to Augsburg. The teacher and friend Berthold von Regensburg died 1272 in Augsburg.

Apart from numerous Latin writings he also wrote ascetical writings in German; six of which Franz Pfeiffer has published in German mystics of the 13th century (Leipzig 1845). Pfeiffer keeps him well for the author of Swabia mirror.
