David Oliver (athlete)

David Oliver (born 24 April 1982) is an American hurdler who specializes in the 110- meter track.

His breakthrough came in 2006 when he increased his personal best to 13.29 s. The following year he improved his personal best to 13.20 s, winning the ISTAF in Berlin. On July 16, 2010, he improved to 12.89 sec and thus remained only two hundredths of a second behind the two- year-old world record of Cuba's Dayron Robles, Olympic champion. In 2007 he was at the U.S. Championships runner-up in the hall and third party outdoors, but resigned at the World Championships in Osaka in the semi-finals.

In 2008 he became a U.S. Indoor Champion and won with a personal best of 12.95 s at the national qualifying heats ( Trials ) for the Olympic Games in Beijing. There he won the bronze medal with 13.18 s behind world record holder Dayron Robles and his compatriot David Payne, from which separated him only a hundredth of a second.

David Oliver is 1.88 meters tall, weighs 93 kg and lives in Kissimmee. He studied at Howard University, where he was also active as a football player, and graduated in 2004 as a BBA in marketing.
