David P. Sartor

David P. Sartor is an American composer, conductor and music educator.

Sartor studied at the Blair School of Music, the College - Conservatory of the University of Cincinnati and the University of Tennessee at John Anthony Lennon and David Van Vactor. He teaches composition at the Trevecca Nazarene University.

For his compositions Sartor has received numerous awards, including the Ostwald Prize for symphonic wind music of the American Bandmasters Association, the National Fine Arts Award and more than twenty awards of ASCAP. He was a finalist in the composition competition of the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, the Adagio Composition Competition of Fauxharmonic Orchestra and winner of the composition competition of the Burlington Chamber Orchestra and received commissions of several symphony and chamber orchestra, the Cathedral Choral Society at Washington National Cathedral, the Minneapolis Vocal Consort, the Chestnut Brass, the Indiana Wind Symphony, the United States Marine Corps Concert Band, bassist John Deak, soprano Cheryl Studer and organist Peter Fyfe.

As a conductor, Sartor studied with Donald and Karen Lynne Deal new, he also attended workshops by Kenneth Schermerhorn and John Morris Russell. He founded and directed two chamber music ensembles and as a guest conductor own and works by contemporary composers with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Middle Tennessee Symphony, the Nexus Chamber Orchestra, the Vanderbilt Orchestra, the Knoxville Brass Choir, the Dogwood Arts Festival Chamber Orchestra of Trevecca Symphonyund California State University Symphonic Band on.
