David Parlett

David Sidney Parlett (* 1939 in London ) is a British game designer and expert in card games. He is best known as the author of the game hare and the tortoise, which he invented in 1973, which was the first game in 1979 the prize was awarded Game of the Year. He is also the author of numerous publications on card games, including the standard work Oxford Guide to Card Games.

Life

David Parlett studied French and German in Aberystwyth in Wales, where he graduated in 1961. He taught for six years at the French school; then he created technical descriptions in a PR agency for promotional publications for architecture.
