David Paymer

David Paymer ( born August 30, 1954 in Oceanside, Long Iceland, New York State, USA) is an Oscar -nominated American actor.

Life and achievements

Paymer grew up in a Jewish family in Oceanside. His father, Marvin Paymer earned his money with scrap metal and later became a pianist and conductor. His mother had fled from Belgium from the Nazis. In 1973, the parents divorced. His older brother is the actor Steve Paymer (* 1951), with whom he later worked. David Paymer studied drama and psychology at the University of Michigan. He attended the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City.

In the 1970s, the first success for him was established. Paymer was first on tour with the musical Grease, in which embodied in a Supporting Role Sonny Latierri. He then joined up with the production on Broadway.

In nearly 30 years in the profession Paymer embodied approximately 130 roles in TV series, TV movies and feature films and has been honored with various awards. A larger audiences he was the comedy City Slickers - The city of heroes (1991 ) with Billy Crystal known. At the Academy Awards in 1993 Paymer in the category Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Last comedian was - Mr. Saturday Night nominated, which had been written to him by Billy Crystal on the body. Furthermore, Paymer refer to two Golden Globe nominations, namely in 1993 as Best Supporting Actor for The last comedian - Mr. Saturday Night and in 1997 as Best Supporting Actor for Crime of the Century.

In 2000 him the National Board of Review the NBR Award awarded for State and Main, together with the ensemble cast. For this film he received at the 2001 Online Film Critics Society Awards the OFCS Award, along with the best ensemble cast. In the same year he also got the Florida Film Critics Circle Awards the FFCC Award for State and Main, also here, together with the ensemble cast.

In recent years Paymer has also served as a director of several television series. Since 1988, he is married to Liz Georges, and has one daughter.
