David R. Bowen

David Reece Bowen ( born October 21, 1932 in Houston, Mississippi) is an American politician. Between 1973 and 1983 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

David Bowen attended until 1950, the Cleveland High School in Mississippi. Then he studied until 1952 at the University of Missouri, then to 1954 at Harvard University, and finally to 1956 at the University of Oxford in England. Between 1957 and 1958 he was a soldier in the U.S. Army.

In the years 1958 to 1959 Bowen taught as an assistant professor political science and history at Mississippi College. Between 1959 to 1964 he put this activity continues at Millsaps College. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1966 to 1967 he was employed by the Federal Institute for Economic Development ( Office of Economic Opportunity ), from 1967 to 1968 he worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. From 1968 to 1972 he was coordinator of the government programs of the federal government and the state government of Mississippi ( Coordinator of Federal- State Programs ).

1972 Bowen was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he replaced Jamie Lloyd Whitten on January 3, 1973. Since he also won the next four congressional elections, he was able to complete up to January 3, 1983 a total of five legislative sessions in Congress. In 1982 he abandoned a bid again. After his time in Congress from 1985 to 1987 Bowen was still a guest speaker at Mississippi State University. Today, he spends his life in McLean ( Virginia).
