David Ruffin

David Ruffin ( born January 18, 1941 as Davis Eli Ruffin in Whynot, Mississippi; † 1 June 1991) was an American gospel and soul singer. He was a member of the Temptations and had as their lead singer with great success. After his separation from the Temptations in 1968, he tried his hand as a soloist. But besides My Whole World Ended and Walk Away from Love he barely had commercial success. His long-term drug addiction eventually took its toll and Ruffin died at just 50 years of a drug overdose in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 2001 complained his family against NBC and Temptations bandleader Otis Williams: a TV mini- series, based on the memoir by Williams, claimed that Ruffin was thrown from a moving car in a hospital entrance, and his body was out for several days as John Doe. Instead, Ruffin, however, was brought by his driver to the hospital and clearly identified there.

David Ruffin was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
