David Sainsbury, Baron Sainsbury of Turville

David Sainsbury ( born October 24, 1940) is a British entrepreneur and politician.

Life

His parents were the British entrepreneur Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Sainsbury. Sainsbury attended Eton College and studied history and psychology at the University of Cambridge. In 1967 he founded the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. From 1992 to 1997 he headed the British retailer J Sainsbury. In 1997 the title Baron Sainsbury of Turville, he was awarded. Sainsbury is a member of the Labour Party. From July 1998 to November 2006 Sainsbury was employed as Parliamentary Secretary in the British Ministry of Economic Affairs and the House of Lords, he was also Minister for Science and Innovation.
