David Schaub

David Schaub is an animation supervisor, who works at Sony Pictures Imageworks and in 2011 was nominated for Alice in Wonderland for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Life

In his childhood he lived by the profession of his father, who worked for NATO, in different countries. With ten years he lived in Belgium for example. He studied mechanical engineering and worked after graduation for almost 10 years at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, California. He then trained at an evening school of the University of California, Los Angeles in animation on and was set in 1995 by Sony Pictures Imageworks.

His first film was The Craft, a horror film directed by Andrew Fleming. Then came movies like Godzilla, Stuart Little and Cast Away - Lost. 2001, the film was followed by evolution, for whom he worked as a character animator. In the following years he worked as animation director for the films The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, Surf's Up, and Alice in Wonderland responsible. For Alice in Wonderland 2011 he was nominated along with Ken Ralston, Carey Villegas and Sean Phillips for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects.
