David Schirmer (poet)

David Schirmer pseudonym: The determining, The Beshir Mende, DiSander; (* May 29, 1623 in Pappendorf; buried August 12, 1686 in Dresden ) was a poet of the Baroque period.

Life

The poet was a son of the Protestant pastor, who wrote also. First brought up by his father, he came in 1640 to Christian Gueintz to high school in Halle ( Saale). In 1641 he enrolled in Leipzig, and from 1645 he studied under August Buchner in Wittenberg. Philip of Zesen took him in 1647 to the German -minded cooperative. From 1649 he works as a court poet in Dresden. 1650 he presents his first collection of poems in print. 1655 he was appointed as successor to the Christian Brehmes court librarian. After almost thirty years of activity he goes into retirement for health reasons in 1683 and died in his adopted home of Dresdner three years later.

The 800 -page two-piece collection Poetic Rose Gepüsche (1657 ) shows him at the height of his poetic creation. Especially in the love poetry and song-writing proves to be high skill, although he was undoubtedly influenced by Martin Opitz and Paul Fleming. Another band, Poetic Argyle Gepüsche ( 1663 ), offers on 700 pages the occasional poems and courtly divertissements, which required his profession as poet laureate.
