David Servan-Schreiber

David Servan-Schreiber (* April 21, 1961 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, near Paris, † July 24, 2011 in Fécamp, Normandy ) was a French physician, psychiatrist and author.

Life

David Servan-Schreiber was born as the eldest of four sons of the Sabine de Fouquières and the journalist and politician Jean -Jacques Servan-Schreiber. He studied in France and Canada Medicine ( MD 1984 faculté de médecine, Université Laval, Canada) and a PhD in the U.S. on neurocognitive sciences ( Ph.D, Cognitive Science in Medicine, Carnegie Mellon University, USA). He worked in the U.S. as a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh and in France as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine in Lyon. He was a founding member of the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders and co-founder of the UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine, Pittsburgh. He became known for popular science books in which he advocated a healthy diet, exercise and a balanced lifestyle. He further pointed to the non-excluded risk of cancer due to long- term exposure to cell phone radiation. He died of a brain tumor at the age of 50 years.
