David Storey

David Malcolm Storey ( born July 13, 1933, Wakefield, Yorkshire ) is a British playwright, novelist and screenwriter.

Among his best known works include the dramas home ( nominated for the Tony Award) and to celebrate the day and the novels A lost son and Saville, for which he was awarded the 1976 Booker Prize.

His debut novel This Sporting Life in 1963 filmed by Lindsay Anderson titled Alluring laurel. Storey wrote the screenplay for the film, which became one of the early works of the British Free Cinema movement.

Main theme in Storeys works are the relations between social classes; he is regarded as one of the leading representatives of social realism. David Storey is married, has four children and lives in London.
