David Suazo

Óscar David Suazo Velázquez ( born November 5, 1979 in San Pedro Sula ) is a retired Honduran football player. He played on the position of the striker and was national player of his country. He is also a national of Italy. Suazo is considered one of the most talented and successful Honduran football player of all time. He is a cousin of the also known as a football player Maynor Suazo and Hendry Bernardo Thomas. His nicknames are Black Panther and King David.

Career

In the club

His footballing career started when Suazo Honduran club Club Deportivo Olimpia. With the club he won once ( 1998) and the championship once ( 1998), the national cup.

In the summer of 1999 he moved to Italy to Cagliari Calcio. For the club in his first season he scored a goal in eleven missions. At the end of the season Cagliari relegated to Serie B until they rose again for season 2003/ 04. In the four years in Serie B Suazo scored 40 league goals in 113 league games. Due to its hit rate he received from the fans nicknamed La Pantera ( the Panther ).

For the season 2007/ 08 David Suazo moved for 14 million euros to Inter Milan. However, there was a conflict with the city rivals AC Milan, who in turn reported to the player's obligation as already perfect - after all, Suazo but decided for a change to Inter. AC Milan accepted the decision, even though they had already achieved with Suazos former club an agreement. In the 2007 /08 season he won the Italian championship with Inter and was involved with eight goals in 24 games at the title of his team.

For the 2008/09 season Suazo was loaned to Benfica. There, he played twelve league games, before returning to the start of the 2009/10 season at Inter Milan. However, Suazo could not prevail and only played one game in the first round. Therefore, he was awarded at the beginning of the season to the league rivals Genoa.

For the 2011/12 season Suazo joined Catania Calcio. He ended his career after a knee injury on March 27, 2013.

In the National Team

With the youth selection of the Honduran national team he participated, among others, at the Junior World Cup in Spain in 1999. There he lost with his team all three group games and was eliminated in the first round of. In 2010, Suazo also with the Honduran national team at the World Cup in South Africa in part and played three games.
