David Suzuki Foundation

The David Suzuki Foundation is a nonprofit environmental organization that is registered in Canada and the United States and is headquartered in Vancouver. Its main themes are global warming, protection of the oceans, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy and sustainability.

The David Suzuki Foundation was founded in 1990. Co-founder and namesake was the science presenter and environmental activist David Suzuki. He had invited along with Tara Cullis as a result of the numerous feedback on his radio series It's a Matter of Survival ( It's a matter of survival ) to a think tank on Pender Iceland, led the discussions establishing the organization.

From the organization newsletters, podcasts, reports and scientific studies on environmental topics are published. Based on a study by the Union of Concerned Scientists developed the organization, the David Suzuki 's Nature Challenge ( David Suzuki's Nature Challenge ). It is a program of action for citizens to contribute through simple changes to their lifestyles to protect the environment and improve their quality of life. In June 2008, 364 855 Canadians had registered on the website of the project.

In 2008, the David Suzuki Foundation had about 50 employees. Its managing director is Peter Robinson.

Since 2009, the David Suzuki Foundation cooperates with the Climate Reality Project, founded by Al Gore, whose Canadian representative is housed in the premises of the Foundation. Together, the organizations want to raise awareness of the urgency of the climate crisis.
