David Veit

David Veit ( born November 8, 1771 in Breslau, † April 15, 1814 ) was a German physician.

His father Joseph Veit was a banker; his brother Simon Veit was the husband of Moses Mendelssohn's daughter Dorothea Schlegel. From Vitus study period comes a remarkable correspondence with Rahel Varnhagen von Ense, in the Veit and his encounters with Goethe describes. With Abraham Mendelssohn, he traveled after finishing his studies in Paris. In 1799 he moved to Hamburg, where he worked as a physician and naturalist. He associated, among others here Johann Albert Heinrich Reimarus, Friedrich Christoph Perthes, Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi and Johann Gottlieb Fichte.
