David Vinckboons

David Vinckboons ( born August 13, 1576 Mechelen, † 1632 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter.

Vinckboons was born in Mechelen in Flanders and came to Amsterdam as a boy. Vinckboons painted many small landscapes, usually with biblical themes, and large genre paintings in the tradition of Jan Brueghel the Elder. Vinckboons was mannerist, but he is considered the forerunner of the Dutch realist school of the 17th century.
