David Wallace (rugby union)

David Wallace ( born July 8, 1976 in Limerick ) is an Irish rugby union player who plays in the position of winger. He is active in the region Munster and the Irish national team.

Wallace was in 2000 against Argentina, his debut for Ireland. He followed his brothers Richard and Paul, who were also rugby players. He was nominated in 2001 for the tour of the British and Irish Lions, but came to no use in an official Test match. Due to numerous injuries, he could not always secure his place in the national team until 2006.

Since the successful 2005/06 season, in which he was the Triple Crown in the Six Nations and with Munster win the Heineken Cup with Ireland, however, he is a regular formation. He is regarded as a particularly explosive winger, who has many offensive qualities. With Munster he could repeat in 2008 winning the Heineken Cup.

With the Six Nations 2009, the Irish reached after 1948 the second Grand Slam, Wallace stood in all games in the starting lineup. On April 21 of that year he was nominated by Ian McGeechan for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa. It was used in all three games against the " Springboks ".
