David West (basketball)

David Moorer West ( born August 29, 1980 in Teaneck, New Jersey ) is an American professional basketball player who is active for the Indiana Pacers since 2011.

Although West grew up in New Jersey, he attended the Garner High School in Garner, North Carolina and the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. The Xavier University in Cincinnati, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in professional communications.

West was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in the first round, No. 18 overall in the NBA Draft 2003. During the season 2005/ 06 he was voted 2nd place in the NBA Most Improved Player Award. In 2008 and 2009 he was selected as a reserve player for the NBA All- Star Games.

For the season 2011/2012 West left the Hornets and signed a contract for 2 years with the Indiana Pacers.
