David Wise (composer)

David Wise is a composer, known for his work at the video game developer Rare in the Donkey Kong Country series. He left the company in 2009.

Biography

Prior to his work at Rare Wise was employed at a music store in Leicester. There he wrote on the music computer Yamaha CX5 first digital music. As he demonstrated the Rare- CEOs Tim and Chris Stamper the unit, he was offered a position in their company. He composed music for video games on the Nintendo consoles NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Gameboy Advance.

2009 left David Wise Rare, after it was acquired by Microsoft and took a change of direction, to sports games and Kinect. He worked in his own company David Wise Sound Studios and Music Publishing continues as a composer and sound designer to video games and other digital media. For the 2014 released Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, he returned as composer for the DKC series.
