David Zabriskie ( born January 12, 1979 in Salt Lake City, Utah ) is a former American professional cyclist. He is 1.83 m tall and weighs 67 kg.

Career

In the years 2001 to 2004 he rode for the U.S. Postal team from 2005 to 2007, he belonged to the Danish team CSC. In 2008 joined the American team Slipstream - Chipotle, which was sponsored in the course of this season of Garmin and took the name of the new main sponsor.

Among his greatest successes to 2006 included a stage win at the Vuelta a España in 2004, winning the 8th stage ( ITT ) at the Giro d' Italia in 2005, the opening time trial of the Tour de France 2005 and the silver medal in the individual time trial at the Road Cycling World Championship 2006. Zabriskie was American champion in the time trial 2000 ( U23 ), 2004 and 2006.

In the following years he was the title of national champion in the time trial to defend (2007-2009), respectively. In 2009 he also won for the first time in his career a round trip, the Tour of Missouri. The foundation for the overall victory he laid on the 3rd stage with a convincing victory in the time trial. After he was last seen four consecutive times national time trial champion, renounced Zabriskie 2010 to a possible title defense. In 2011 he won both the time trial of the Tour de Romandie as well as the time trial of the Tour of California. Furthermore, he also won for the sixth time overall in the National Championship time trial.
