David Zauner

David Zauner ( born April 9, 1985 in Leoben ) is an Austrian ski jumper and former nordic combined. He grew up in iron ore, his club is the factory sports body iron ore.

Career

Zauner started as a Nordic skier from 1999 for the Austrian Ski Federation. 1999/2000 he won the Austria Cup in the student category II and the special jumping in Fulpmes. 2000/ 01 he was Austrian Champion in students. 2001/ 02 he was fourth in the Austria Cup of adults. 2002/ 03 Zauner launched for the first time in the B World Cup and 2004/ 05, finally, for the first time in A- Nordic Combined World Cup, where he finished ninth among others at the competition in Sapporo. 2006/ 07 he finished tenth in the World Cup B- overall.

After the 2008/ 09 season Zauner moved from the Nordic combined ski jumping. The 2009/2010 season began for him unfavorably As a prelude to the Continental Cup in Rovaniemi he crashed and suffered a broken collarbone. On 16 January 2010 Zauner debuted in the World Cup Ski Jumping: When jumping in Sapporo he placed ninth. He took this place in the day following the second World Cup competition in Sapporo. A week later, Zauner scored two sixth places in Zakopane. In Klingenthal him rank fifth succeeded with the Austrian team he managed 7 February 2010 while jumping in Willingen, a third place and thus the first podium of his career. In individual competitions more fourth places are to book.

On 19 March 2010, he presented in Planica with 223 meters to a new record in the Styrian ski flying. After being in Hinterzarten with a 26th place still disappointed at the opening of the Summer Grand Prix 2010, he succeeded in Courchevel with a second place ( equal points with Thomas Morgenstern ) the first individual podium. On 24 November 2010 Zauner suffered in the final training session of the Austrian team in Lillehammer before the World Cup opener in Kuusamo a torn ACL in his left knee.

It was only in December 2011 Zauner returned to the international stage. After fourth place in the individual competition on December 9, 2011 at the Čerťák large hill in Harrachov he could end up in the team competition in second place with the Austrian team. At the season opener of the Continental Cup on 8 and 9 December 2012 at Kazakhstan's Almaty, in which Zauner had occupied twice the third place, he complained of knee problems. A medical examination revealed a torn ligament in his right knee, resulting in a failure for the rest of the season.
