David Zurabishvili

Dawit Zurabishvili (Georgian დავით ზურაბიშვილი; born March 16, 1957 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian non-party politician. He is a Member of the Georgian Parliament and Chairman of the Democratic Front faction.

Life

Zurabishvili studied Economics at Tbilisi State University. In 1996, he was next to Levan Ramishvili, Givi Targamadze and Giga Bokeria co-founder and analyst of Freedom Institute in Tbilisi, the first lobbied against a ban on the private TV station Rustavi 2. Later it was working against corruption and supported the Government in the preparation of legal reforms in Georgia.

Zurabishvili participated in the Georgian Rose Revolution that led to the resignation of President Shevardnadze. With the director Giorgi Khaindrava, the writer Dawit Turaschwili and his colleagues from the Freedom Institute, Giga Bokeria, he made on 10 November 2003 a committee for civil resistance, which campaigned in universities, organizations and the province for action against the government.

On March 28, 2004, he was on the list of the National Movement - Democrats ( NMD ) was chosen as a deputy in the Parliament of Georgia, became deputy NMD Group Chairman of the parliamentary faction and deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Culture and Science.

In October 2005, he left the NMD Group, President Mikheil Saakashvili called a " daydreamer " who does not advance democracy and bring the country's economy. Together with parliamentarians of the Conservative Party and the Republican Party of Georgia, he founded the opposition faction Democratic Front. She now has 15 MPs.

Zurabishvili is married and has two children. With the former Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili he is not related, their faces politically hostile.
