Dayton Gems

The Dayton Gems were an American Hockey franchise from Dayton, Ohio. They played last from 2010 to 2012 in the Central Hockey League.

History

The Dayton Gems were founded in 2009 as a franchise of the International Hockey League. The team chose the name of the owner in accordance with the same team that had long played in the original International Hockey League. In its inaugural season, the 2009/10 season, the Gems occupied the seventh and last place thus the IHL.

From the 2010/11 season the Dayton Gems took part in the Central Hockey League. In July 2010, Brian Gratz was appointed as the successor of John Marks migrated to the head coach and general manager of the franchise. After the season 2011/12, the team found, however, with immediate effect the operation of gambling.
