History

1879 bought by the Englishman, Sir Titus Salt, former Mayor of Bradford, England, land in Rhea County and established the Titus Salt and Son Ltd. for the mining of coal and iron ore. 1883 took over the Dayton Coal and Iron Company, based in Saltaire, England, the other investments.
