DB AutoZug

DB AutoZug GmbH, based in Dortmund was a subsidiary of DB long-distance transport and marketed the car and night trains of DB Mobility Logistics. DB AutoZug also ran the car trains Niebüll - Westerland (Sylt Shuttle ) and the Marine and Island Railway Wangerooge.

On September 30, 2013, the DB AutoZug GmbH was dissolved and is now going into the DB AG on long-distance transport. The train categories AZ ( cars) and CNL ( City Night Line) continue to exist and operate immediately from the DB long-distance AG.

History

The Auto Train business under the brand car train since the beginning of operations of the Company in 1997., The company took over the timetable change on May 30, 1999 to the entire night trains of Deutsche Bahn., With the brands Holiday Express and DB night train. Since 2002, DB AutoZug runs their trains as a railway company on its own. On 1 January 2003, the economic responsibility of the Euro Night - and D- night trains has passed to the DB AutoZug.

The DB night train and the holiday Express arisen since the timetable change on 9 December 2007 under the new brand " City Night Line " on. At the same time the car train offer was reduced ( over the entire schedule period) of about 1200 to about 920 trains. Four out of nine car train loading stations were closed. According to the company, especially short, uneconomic routes have been abandoned. In 2007, the company carried 183,000 vehicles and thereby achieved a turnover of 60 million euros. The timetable change on 13 December 2010, 2009, shared by car train and CityNightLine Talgo sleeper were replaced by conventional rolling stock of DB AutoZug.

The night trains were operated until December 31, 2009 by sister company City Night Line CNL AG, headquartered in Zurich ( Switzerland ). Car train terminals
