DDT (Band)

DDT (Russian ДДТ ) is a Russian rock band. It was founded by Yuri Shevchuk, their lead singer, 1981 in Ufa. With her going into the singer-songwriter style direction they are, together with the bands aquarium and movie theater, major exponent of Russian rock music of the perestroika era and, in a general sense, the modern Russian pop music.

History

1982 wrote the Komsomolskaya Pravda a competition for young musicians, titled as Solotoj Kamerton ( Золотой Камертон ) (Eng. Golden Tuning Fork ). DDT sent to three compositions: " Inoplanetjane ( Инопланетяне ) " (Eng. aliens ), " Tschornoje Solnze ( Чёрное солнце )" ( German Schwarze Sonne ) and " Ne streljai ( Не стреляй )" ( not German Shooting ).

During the current competition, the band released their first album ( on tape ). " Swinja na raduge ( Свинья на радуге ) " (Eng. The Pig on the Rainbow). This album contains elements of rock ' n' roll, blues and country music. At this time, the Russian pop music was divided into official artist, where membership was allowed in the official music Union and received government support, and in unofficial artists. Unofficial artists were mostly well- trained musicians, but they were in other occupations ( the proverbial " generation of caretakers and guardians "). In the 1980s created complex distribution networks for audio tapes and unofficial artists could in this way wide reception ( without financial compensation ) reach ( see also samizdat ). Such underground artists were often widely known and their unofficial albums were even sometimes mentioned in the official press. DDT was in the 80s, always on the edge between the substrate and as allowed status. But publishing was the only group in the underground.

The submitted DDT compositions on " Solotoj Kamerton " came up in the final round and the band was invited to Moscow, where they in the " Orljonok complex ( Орлёнок Комплекс ) " together with the group " Rok - sentjabr ( Рок - сентябрь )" ( dt. skirt - September ) from Cherepovets, gave a concert. In May 1983 DDT has performed with great success in Moscow's Luzhniki stadium on, as part of the three-day festival "Rock me sa ( Рок за мир ) " (Eng. rock for peace ). Your contribution, however, was cut out of the official TV program about this event.

After her Umformierung the group released in 1984 the album " Periferija ( Периферия ) " (Eng. periphery). According to this publication, some of the band members were contacted and guarded by the KGB. Shevchuk spent some time in Sverdlovsk, where he performed with the band Urfin Juice (Russian Urfin Tsu ( Урфин Джус ) ). In November 1985, published DDT in Sverdlovsk Album " Vremya ( Время ) ' (German time). In 1986 he moved Shevchuk with his wife, son and mother to Leningrad.

In June 1987, DDT performed at the Leningrad rock festival, where they played in front of 3,000 audience, even though the concert was approved for only 1,000 visitors. In the summer of 1988, DDT made ​​a tour of the USSR and took a new album: " Ottepel ( Оттепель ) " (Eng. thaw ). In 1989, DDT together with the band Alisa a tour that took them to Hungary. 1990 DDT performed at several concerts in the United States and Japan. Likewise, they appeared at a concert in honor of Viktor Tsoi. In 1991, the group released two albums: " Plastun ( Пластун ) " (Eng. Schleicher ) and " Aktrissa Wesna ( Актриса Весна )" ( German actress spring).

Then, the group changed their screening strategy and took more programs into their repertoire: well-prepared, concept related concerts. Between December 1992 and January 1993, DDT his first program: " Chorny Pjos Petersburg ( Чёрный пёс Петербург ) " (engl. Black Dog Petersburg) and began a tour of the CIS countries. On 27 May 1993 a DDT concert lived on the Palace Square in Saint Petersburg in 120,000 people. In summer 1994, DDT took part in the "White Nights concert " in Berlin. In the autumn of the same year the group was awarded the " Owazija Prize " for the best rock group of the year in Russia. Yuri Shevchuk has been recognized as best Russian rock musician of the year. At the beginning of 1995, the next album was recorded: " Eto wsjo ... ( Это всё ... ) " (Eng. That's all ... ). In January of this year, Shevchuk went to Chechnya on a peace tour. He went on to 50 events with Russian troops and Chechen cities. Between late 1995 and 1996, DDT was working in the U.S., where they (English Love) at Long View Farm in Massachusetts recorded their album " Lyubov ( Любовь ) ". New musicians added met: I. Tikhomirov and D. Galitsky (keyboard).
