De Gasperi II Cabinet

The Cabinet De Gasperi II ruled Italy on 13 July 1946 to 2 February 1947. Previously ruled the Cabinet De Gasperi I, then the Cabinet De Gasperi III. The government of Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi was supported by the following parties in the Constituent Assembly:

  • Christian Democracy (DC)
  • Partito Comunista Italiano ( PCI)
  • Partito Socialista Italiano di Unità Proletaria ( PSIUP )
  • Partito Repubblicano Italiano ( PRI)

The Cabinet De Gasperi II was the first government officially proclaimed on the basis of the referendum on 2 and 3 June 1946 the Republic of Italy. However, the previous Cabinet remained during the first weeks of the new republic in office until the also elected on June 2 and 3 Constituent Assembly Enrico De Nicola selected for the provisional head of state and this then swore in the new government. The Cabinet De Gasperi II occurred beginning in February 1947 because of a split within the PSIUP back. From PSIUP the new (old ) Socialist party PSI and PSDI was the Social Democratic Party.

The governments of De Gasperi, who remained as prime minister until 1953 in the office, took care of after the end of World War II, especially the reconstruction of the country from February 10, 1947 remained under Allied occupation until the Paris Peace Treaty.
