De Havilland Gipsy Major
The de Havilland Gipsy Major or Gipsy IIIa was an aircraft engine manufacturer of the British de Havilland Aircraft Company from the year 1932. He was an evolution of the Gipsy III.
The Gipsy Major was an air-cooled continuous 4- cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 374 cubic inches (about 6.1 liters ). The production started in 1932 ended after the delivery of 14,615 copies. After the Second World War more engines developed under license of Alfa Romeo 110
The arrangement of the cylinder below the crankcase allowed, the propeller is relatively high to install, without the pilots of smaller airplanes, the view is obstructed by the cylinder.
