De-Phazz

De -Phazz [ di ː Fáez ] is a band from Heidelberg. It was founded in 1997 by Pit Baumgartner as an open band project, and the first album Detunized Gravity. Haluk Soyoglu is co-founder of De -Phazz. He also created the name or the neologism " De -Phazz " comes as a "shortcut" for "Destination Phuture Jazz". The idea behind this was that every album should be a journey to another planet or music style. Were known De -Phazz including through their radio hit The Mambo Craze from their second album Godsdog. De -Phazz has initially released his music on Mole Listening Pearls and was later taken to Universal Music Classics & Jazz ( Universal Music ) under contract. Responsible Label Manager at MLP was Haluk Soyoglu, the Pit Baumgartner took him under contract and then the contract with Universal " einfädelte ". Today, Pit Baumgartner and Haluk Soyoglu jointly head the label Phazz-a -delic New Format Recordings, which also appears for years DEPHAZZ.

Most albums appeared parallel on LP and CD. In live performances of the band at clubs and open-air concerts there are light and color games, projections and dances.

The band's name derives from destination f ( ph) uture jazz; the initial notation De -Phazz changed over the years about De | Phazz ( 2001) De Phazz ( 2005).

Music style

The mixture of electronically synthesized sounds and different instruments from the beginning was a major influence on the style of music. Starting with Godsdog to Death By Chocolate is undergoing a change of style, you move away from trip hop and drum and bass and builds the style further in the direction of soul and latin. From " Death By Chocolate" the music is generally classified in lounge.

The music contains, among other elements of dub, jazz, soul, trip hop, Latin, Drum and Bass, Ambient and R'n'B. Also elements of turntablism be involved in the music. De -Phazz songs have been repeatedly used in commercials. The song is Anchorless in the program Space Night - used all- day night in the Bavarian television. Some songs provide parodies of contemporary music and entertainment industry.
