Deakin University is a university in Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria.

Deakin University was founded in 1974, is named after Alfred Deakin. At Deakin University study about 34,000 students, of which 11,500 in part-time programs or distance learning. Approximately 6,000 international students are enrolled. Chancellor is David M. Morgan, Vice-Chancellor since 2010 Jane den Hollander.

In addition to the Melbourne campus, which is located east of downtown Melbourns, locations in Burwood, Toorak, Geelong and Warrnambool are located.

The university was 1995/1996 honored for their extraordinary achievements in training and 1999/2000 for their extraordinary achievements in education and teaching. In 2007 she was nominated for the " Carrick Award for achievements of student learning ."
