Dean DeBlois

Dean DeBlois Dean Deblois also ( born June 7, 1970 in Aylmer, Quebec ) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter, best known for his work as co-author and co-director of the Oscar nominated films Lilo & Stitch and How To Train Your Dragon. He has also directed the documentary film by Sigur Rós Heima Director.

Life

DeBlois started his career as an assistant animator and layout artist in the Hinton Animation Studios / Lacewood Productions in Ottawa (Ontario), and simultaneously took part in the program for classical animation at the Sheridan College in Oakville (Ontario ) three years of part. From 1988 to 1990 DeBlois worked on the television series The Raccoons, the TV special The Teddy Bears' Picnic, and the feature film The Nutcracker Prince.

In 1990, after completing his studies at the Sheridan College, DeBlois was hired by Sullivan Bluth Studios to Dublin (Ireland). There he worked as a layout artist, character designer and storyboard assistant of Don Bluth, with movies like A Troll in Central Park and Thumbelina.

In 1994, DeBlois has moved from Dublin to Los Angeles to begin his work as a storyboard author at Walt Disney Feature Animation. There he co-wrote the storyline for the film Mulan the work of Chris Sanders, his frequent collaborator, continued. Shortly after, they collaborated in the creation of the film Lilo & Stitch again.

In October 2008, DeBlois comes back to the cartoons.
