Dean Evason

Dean C. Evason ( born August 22, 1964 in Flin Flon, Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and the EV Landshut in the German Ice Hockey League. Since June 2012, he is head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Career

Evason first played in the 1980/81 season in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League with the Cowichan Valley Capitals. At the end of the season he moved to the Western Hockey League, where he ran aground and 1984 for the Spokane Flyers and Kamloops Junior Oilers. In his last year he was appointed to West First All-Star team in the league.

After the Center had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1982 in the fifth round to 89th place by the Washington Capitals, he took this to the end of the 1983/84 season and put him in two games of the season. The following season spent Evason between the farm team, the American Hockey League was a member, and the NHL squad of caps before he was transferred in March 1985 to the Hartford Whalers. He belonged to the end of the season 1990/91 at the NHL strain squad and played in the 1986/87 season his best year with 59 points from 80 games. In October 1991, the Canadian then changed in exchange for Dan Keczmer to the newly established San Jose Sharks, where he remained for two years. It was followed by further transfers to the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames.

For the 1996/97 season he joined the Canadian National Team, but also ran in three games for the EV train from the Swiss National League A on. After his stay in the national team, he went to the 1997/98 season in the German Ice Hockey League for EV Landshut, where he finished his career after the 1998 /99.

After the completion of his active career Evason took over for the season 1999/ 00 the post of head coach with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League, he occupied until the end of the season 2001 /02. This was followed by a one-year commitment as head coach at the Vancouver Giants game in 2002 /03. During the season 2004/ 05 he worked as an assistant coach of the Calgary Hitmen, who were equally as Kamloops and Vancouver home in the WHL. From the 2005/06 season he was an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals in the NHL. First, he assisted head coach Glen Hanlon, and later he supported his successor Bruce Boudreau. For the season 2012/13 he was bound by the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League as head coach.

Internationally

Evason first played at the Junior World Championships in 1984 for the Canadian national team, but it only reached the fourth place. With the Senior National Team Evason spent the entire season in 1996/97 with the exception of three games for the EV train from the Swiss National League A. This included was also participating in the 1997 World Series where the team was able to win the gold medal.
