Dean Jones (actor)

Dean Jones ( born January 25, 1931 in Decatur, Alabama ) is an American actor.

In the 1960s and 1970s he starred in many Disney films and was one of the stars of the studio. He gained in the role of Jim Douglas, the owner of the VW Beetle Herbie in the film The Love Bug ( The Love Bug, 1969) Great popularity. In the 1990s, he appeared in some remakes of his earlier Disney successes, including going back as Jim Douglas.

Life

Dean Jones served during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He then attended the Asbury College Wilmore, Kentucky, but left it without a degree. As an actor, he started the " Birdcage Theater " in the amusement park " Knott 's Berry Farm" in California. From the mid- 1950s he also received minor film roles in Hollywood.

However, his breakthrough as an actor he had in 1960 on Broadway with the play Marry me, darling!
