Dean Komel

Dean Komel ( born June 7, 1960 in Bilje, Miren - Kostanjevica ) is a Slovenian philosopher and publicist.

Life

Komel studied at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. After studying at Bernhardswald rock and Klaus Held in Germany in 1995 he completed his doctorate on the subject of hermeneutical critique of anthropological orientation in contemporary philosophy. Today he is a professor of contemporary philosophy and cultural philosophy at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana.

Dean Komel is president of the Society for Phenomenology in Ljubljana and acts in several editors of journals of philosophy and culture (among Phainomena, Nova Revija and Orbis Phaenomenologicus ) with. Since 2005 he has been director of research at the Institute for the Humanities Nova revija. In 2003 he received the Zois Award of the Republic of Slovenia for outstanding scientific achievements in philosophy.

Research focus

His research is Komel sets apart especially with the sense of philosophy in the present. In this context, he also developed philosophical reflection of the language, historicity, art, interculturality and Humanities. He is also the author of many social and cultural critical contributions.
