Dean Prentice

Dean Sutherland Prentice ( born October 5, 1932 in Schumacher, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, and in his active years from 1950 to 1977 among others for the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins Minnesota North Stars played in the National Hockey League. His brother Eric was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Dean Prentice began his career as a hockey player with the Guelph Biltmores, for he held until 1952 in the Ontario Hockey Association was active from 1950 and with whom in 1952 he won the Memorial Cup. After he started the season 1952/53, at the Biltmores, he was appointed by the New York Rangers committed for the National Hockey League, he stood on the ice following eleven years before in the season 1962/63 in exchange for Don McKenney he and Dick Meissner was delivered to the Boston Bruins. A large part of the season 1964/65 he missed due to a back injury. In his career, the attacker was also for three years with the Detroit Red Wings, two with the Pittsburgh Penguins and another three years with the Minnesota North Stars under contract, in which he in 1974 at the age of 41 ended his NHL career. Following his playing career Prentice took over in season 1974/75 the Office as head coach with the New Haven Nighthawks, with whom he the Springfield Indians lost the final to the Calder Cup with 1:4 victories. In the 1976/77 season the Canadians played again for the Traverse City Bays of the United States Hockey League, before he finally stopped with ice hockey.
