Debbie Flood

Kirsty Deborah " Debbie " Flood ( born February 27, 1980 in Harrogate ) is a British rower. She won until 2011, three World Championship titles and two Olympic silver medals.

Career

In the field of youth Debbie Flood was active both as a judoka as a rower, until it eventually completely focused on rowing. In 1998, she won along with Frances Houghton in double sculls bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. 1999 won both the Nations Cup, the forerunner of the U23 World Championships; 2000 Debbie Flood won the Nations Cup in One. 2001 won Flood along with Frances Houghton in Vienna their first World Cup regatta at the World Rowing Championships 2001, she finished with Houghton seventh place in the double sculls and also sat in sixth-placed British eighth. In 2002, she reached with Houghton fourth place at the World Championships, in 2003, she finished fourth with Rebecca Romero. At the Olympic Games 2004, the British quadruple sculls with Alison Mowbray, Debbie Flood, Frances Houghton and Rebecca Romero won the silver medal behind the German boat.

2005 Flood formed together with Elise Laverick a double scull, drove at the World Championships the two to fifth place. In 2006, she returned to the sculls, who first took the second place at the World Championships in Eton with Debbie Flood, Sarah Winckless, Frances Houghton and Katherine Grainger, but was subsequently awarded after a doping disqualification against the Russian foursome with gold. At the world championships 2007 Annie Vernon, Debbie Flood, Frances Houghton and Katherine Grainger defended the title successfully. In the 2008 Olympic Season the boat remained unchanged personnel, but only won the first World Cup race in Lucerne won the Chinese women before the Americans and the British are coming. Debbie Flood has a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry of the University of Reading. It is involved in the initiative Christians in Sport.
