Debbie Meyer

Deborah " Debbie " Elizabeth Meyer ( born August 14, 1952 in Annapolis, Maryland) is a former American swimmer.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, she was the first woman Olympic champion over three individual distances at the same Olympics. She won gold over 200 m, 400 m and 800 m freestyle, each with Olympic record. In 1969 she was awarded the Sportsman of the Year Award from the Associated Press.

In 1972, she ended her career and opened a swimming school. During her career she set 20 world records. In 1977, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
