Deborah Lynn Scott

Deborah Lynn Scott ( born 1953 or 1954) is an American costume designer who also has a Golden Satellite Award winning both an Oscar for best costume design as for outstanding costume designer.

Life

Deborah Lynn Scott began her career as a costume designer in the film industry in 1980 at the Hollywood slasher movie death cry on the phone (Do not answer the phone) and previously served on the costume and facilities for more than forty films.

In 1986, she was first nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Costume Design, and indeed for Back to the Future (1985 ) by Robert Zemeckis starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson. Between 1988 and 1990 she was also active as a costume designer in performances at theaters in New York City and created costumes for pieces like Nasty Little Secrets (1988 ), The Lark (1989) and Midsummer (1990).

At the Academy Awards in 1998 she won the Oscar for best costumes in Titanic ( 1997) by James Cameron starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Frances Fisher in the lead roles. At the same time she won the 1998 Golden Satellite Award for the Titanic for Outstanding Costume Design. In addition, she was nominated for this award for the best costumes for the British Academy Film.

For The Patriot (2000) by Roland Emmerich starring Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger and Joely Richardson in 2001 she was again nominated for a Golden Satellite Award for Outstanding Costume Design. For the science fiction film Minority Report (2002 ) by Steven Spielberg, starring Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton, she received another nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Costume Design in 2002.

Together with Mayes C. Rubeo she received in 2010 a nomination for the prize of the Costume Designers Guild ( CDG Award) for excellence in costume design in a fantasy film Avatar - Pandora (2009) by James Cameron starring Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldaña and Sigourney Weaver in the lead roles.
