Deborah S. Jin

Deborah S. Jin ( born 1968 ) is an American physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology ( NIST).

Life and work

Jin acquired in 1990 from Princeton University and a bachelor in 1995 at the University of Chicago, a Ph.D. in physics. As a postdoctoral fellow, she worked at the National Research Council. Since 1997 she is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics of the University of Colorado and is owned by the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics ( JILA ) in, a collaboration between the NIST and the University of Colorado.

Deborah Jin heads the working group that produced the first fermion condensate.

Deborah Jin is married.

Awards

Jin received in 2003 the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship ( "genius grant" ). In 2005 she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, 2007, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2008 she received the Benjamin Franklin Medal. In 2013 her a UNESCO L'Oréal Prize was awarded. 2014 she was awarded the Comstock Prize in Physics.
