Debundscha

Province

Debundscha is a place in the south-western region of the Republic of Cameroon.

It is located at the foot of Mount Cameroon at its southwestern slope and is located directly opposite the South Atlantic Ocean on the Cameroonians coast.

Debundscha was for a long time known as the wettest city in the African continent due to the super- heavy annual rainfall, which she learned, but the rain records indicate that the city is behind the city Ureka, on the island of Bioko in Equatorial Guinea -. In Ureka falls over 10,450 millimeters ( 418 in ) of annual rain, making it the wettest city in Africa, closely followed by Debundscha, where in an average of 10,299 mm ( 411.9 in ) rain falls, which is well above the average for sub-Saharan African.

The place Debundscha is one of the five regenreihsten places in the world next to Lloro, Mawsynram, Mount Waialeale and Cherrapunji, since falls over 10,000 millimeters ( 400 in ) of annual rain.

History

The German colonial rulers installed as part of the infrastructural construction of the German colony of Kamerun a lighthouse in Debundscha in 1904.
