Decatur County (Kansas)

Decatur County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Oberlin.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Kansas, Nebraska and bordered to the north has an area of ​​2316 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the County Norton County, Sheridan County, Thomas County Rawlins County.

History

Decatur County was formed on March 20, 1873 from parts of the Norton County and had as of December 15, 1879 own administration. It was named after Stephen Decatur, a U.S. naval officer.
