1-decene is a chemical compound selected from the group of unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Production and representation

Decene-1 can be obtained by oligomerization of ethylene by the Ziegler- Natta process, or by the cracking of petrochemical waxes.

Properties

1- decene is a little volatile, colorless liquid with a characteristic odor, is practically insoluble in water. It forms oligomers.

Use

1-decene is used as comonomer and as an intermediate for the preparation of a number of other compounds. The synthesized from the compound hydrogenated poly -1-decene (E 907) is approved as a glazing agent for confectionery and dried fruits.

Safety

The vapors of 1- decene can form (44 ° C, ignition temperature 235 ° C flash point) with air to form an explosive mixture.
