Decimal computer

Dezimalrechner data and addresses can represent decimal. The instructions can manipulate the decimal data directly, without making a conversion to a binary form.

In the early phase of the history of computers such calculators were often realized as the ENIAC, the UNIVAC I, the IBM 1401, the IBM 650 and the IBM 7070th With the IBM 1401, a combination of decimal and binary arithmetic was used. Later instructions were in the use of microprocessors then available to let convert 1-byte binary coded decimal numbers to binary. Computer of the Intel 80x86 family dominated this.
