Decision-matrix method

The concept selection Pugh ( synonym: concept selection, concept selection, concept analysis, concept selection analysis) is a relatively simple, systematic comparison according to weighted criteria. The method was developed in the late 80s by Stuart Pugh. It is also used in conjunction with Six Sigma.

Execution

The concept of selection is usually carried out as a table with the following columns:

  • According to which the concept is to be selected criteria
  • Weighting of the criteria (usually 1-5)
  • Benchmark or comparison concept ( fictitious concept or current solution )
  • Concept 1 ... n

Review and evaluation

The evaluation is performed by means of numbers or symbols. There are typically , s, -, or 1, 0, -1. These mean better, same, or worse.
